How To's

We’re excited to help you apply your wrap and give your scooter a fresh new look. If you need additional assistance, visit our YouTube channel or Tik Tok, @Scootywraps, for more helpful tips and step by step video applications.

Step 1: Clean Your Scooter

A proper clean is crucial to getting the best results with your Scooty Wrap application. Grab some alcohol (or cleaning solution of choice) and a rag and thoroughly wipe down all the areas where you’ll be applying the wrap. A clean slate guarantees a hassle-free and successful installation. Be sure to wipe the wheels twice; and even new scooters should be cleaned ahead of time. Dirt and other material left behind will show through a wrap.

Step 2: Understand Your Scooty Wrap

The Scooty Wrap is made up of three layers: the top layer, also known as the masking layer, is typically used in wall graphic applications and is applied solely to protect your wrap during ship- ment to prevent it from sticking to itself. The middle layer is the vinyl, and the backing is the final layer. When removing the top masking layer, it’s important to do so slowly to avoid any tears. Once it’s removed, you can start the application process by peeling the vinyl from the backing.

Step 3: Cut Out Each Piece

To make the application process easier, we recommend roughly cutting out each piece of your vinyl kit. This makes it sim- pler to remove the masking layer from each individual piece during application.

Step 4: Where to Start

While prior experience with vinyl is not necessary to apply a Scooty Wrap, we recommend starting with an easy piece to get the hang of things. Try starting with a small piece, such as the kickstand or brake/throttle, to overcome any first-time jitters.

Step 5: Removing the Top Masking Layer

After roughly cutting out each piece and selecting which one to begin with, start the application process by carefully re- moving the top masking layer. To do this, slowly pull back the masking layer while pressing down on the vinyl piece below to keep it attached to the backing layer. Take your time and be cautious to avoid tearing the vinyl. Once the masking layer is removed, the vinyl will be left behind on the backing layer, ready for application.

Step 6: Aligning a Piece

Don’t worry too much about alignment during your first attempts; the vinyl is pressure-sensitive and forgiving. You can lightly stick a piece to the scooter as many times as you need to get the right position. Once you’re satisfied with the alignment, apply pressure slowly to make the application more permanent.

Step 7: Applying a Piece

After achieving the desired alignment, gradually apply pressure to one side of the vinyl piece, working your way across while allowing air to escape. It’s crucial to evenly apply pressure from top to bottom as you move around the piece to avoid bubbles and cracks. If you encounter any cracks, address them immediately by slowly retracing your steps before continuing.

Step 8: Cracks & Creases?

The vinyl’s air release channels make it easy for bubbles to escape. If you encounter a crack or crease, take a moment to pause and double-check your alignment. Slowly remove and re-apply the piece if possible. If it’s too late to backtrack or the piece is already fully applied with a crack or crease, apply more pressure to the affected area and work out any air bubbles. Additionally, using a heat gun or blow dryer on trouble spots is an optional solution to remove any minor faults.

Step 9: Don’t Wash for 72 Hours

It is recommended that you avoid washing your scooter for the first 72 hours after vinyl installation. More Questions? Visit our FAQ https://scootywraps.com/pages/frequently-asked-questions
